Our Virginia Artisan Trail stop features Northern Neck Home School Art

Esther Chance Jett hangs some of her artwork featured in the exhibit

This month on the Virginia Artisan Trail, our stop features the second annual exhibit of artwork by students of the Northern Neck Home School.

Artists hail from 54 families in Lancaster, Northumberland and Richmond County and range in age from four to 17 years-old. Their artwork is created at a variety of venues from private art classes to the kitchen table.

“We try to include everyone in this exhibit,” said Marianne Ashurst, the art teacher who procured the 157-piece show. “We grouped them by landscape, animals, people and still-life.”

If you were able to see the exhibit last year, you will recognize some of the artists and see their growth. You will also spot some new talent.

The library will host a reception for the artists, some of whom will talk about their work, on May 10, from 6-7:30 p.m. in the library meeting room at 7204 Northumberland Hwy., in Heathsville. For more information call 580-5051 or go to northumberlandpubliclibraryva.org
