Tuesdays will be a special time for dogs and kids at the Northumberland Public Library this summer. That’s because the second annual “Read to the Dogs” returns August 4 as part of the library’s Summer Reading Program.
Children of any age may come in with a book in hand for one designated hour every Tuesday in August and read aloud for 10 minutes or so to a docile dog. Library books also may be used. Dog handlers will read aloud to non-readers who want to share in the fun. The free program, which made its debut last summer, runs until August 25.
“Read to the Dogs” will be held in the library from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Tuesday August 4, 11, 18 and 25. The library is located at 7204 Northumberland Highway, Heathsville, VA 22473. Questions? Call the library at (804) 580-5051 for more information.
